There are a variety of options available to customize the prompts you enable for your students. When viewing or adding a prompt, on the Edit a Prompt page, click through the six stages to customize the prompt as desired in the areas of Assignment, Organizer, Peer Reviews, Options, and Share Prompt.

Assignment
1. Assign Prompt

- Click the Select All button to assign the prompt to all students in the course.
- Click into the box to select specific students to assign the prompt to.
- Click the Clear button to remove the assignment from all selected students.
2. Due Date

- To set a Due Date for the prompt, toggle the Enable Due Date switch.
- To enforce a due date, toggle the corresponding switch.
- To set a specific due date, click into the box and set the date and time. Or click the small calendar icon on the far right and select the date and time.
- If you choose to make the due date Required, students will not be able to submit their essays after the due date.
- You can set a reminder for students by clicking in the reminder field and selecting a time.
Organizer
1. Organizer

- To require a graphic organizer, toggle the corresponding switch.
- Then select a specific organizer in the drop down menu, or leave it set to student choice if it is up to the student.
Peer Review
1. Peer Review

- To enable peer review, toggle the corresponding switch.
- To enable the anonymous author or reviewer, toggle the corresponding switch.
- To enable sentence starters, toggle the corresponding switch.
2. Peer Review Questions

- Select up to six additional questions, including any you would like to create.
Options
1. Timer

- You can enable or disable a Timer for student writing with the toggle switch. If the timer is enabled, you can set it for any time period between 30 and 90 minutes.
2. Resubmit Drafts / Finalize Essay / Hide Score / Grammar and Spelling

- Toggle the switch for enable revisions if you would like your students to be able to revise their essay. This can be set from 1 to 99.
- Toggle the switch for enable finalize if you would like your students to be able to finalize their essay.
- You can hide the ability to finalize, the score of a draft, and the grammar and spelling feedback, until after a certain number of drafts have been submitted. These can all be set from 1 to 99.
3. Essay Title / Cited Sources

- These two can be required by toggling the corresponding switch.
4. Specialized Vocabulary List

- In the Specialized Vocabulary field, you can add any technical or uncommon vocabulary words that might be incorrectly tagged as spelling errors. These are words that are appropriate for the content of the essays but would not be recognized by the scoring engine. Words added will be ignored by the scoring engine and not flagged as misspelled words in the students' essays.
5. Enable Copy/Paste

- You can enable or disable the ability for students to Copy and Paste text from another source into their essays by toggling the corresponding switch.
Share Prompt
1. Courses

- If you teach multiple courses, you can select additional Courses to share the prompt.
When you click Save Prompt, the custom prompt options you have chosen will be active for your students when they write to this particular prompt.
