The Peer Review feature in Utah Compose allows students to give and receive constructive feedback on their writing.
Once you have created peer review groups (See Article: Creating Peer Review Groups), the next step is to create peer review forms. You can perform this task as you create a new prompt or after the prompt has been created.
1. On the Writing tab, under the Prompt Library, click Create Prompt to create a new prompt or click on the pencil icon of the prompt for which you would like to create a peer review form.

2. On the Edit a Prompt or Create a Prompt page, click on stage four, titled Peer Reviews.

- For a prompt with peer review Enabled, you can choose whether you want the Author and Reviewer to be anonymous or known to students.
- You can also choose to enable Sentence Starters for your students to guide them as they provide feedback to their peers.
3. Under Peer Review Groups, click on Default Groups to choose the groups that you created under the Reviews tab as your default groups for all prompts.

- Click on Add Group to create a group that is specific to this prompt. If you do not specify groups here, the default course groups will be used.

4. The Peer Review Questions checklist displays peer review questions that are grade band and genre specific.

- In addition to two general questions that are generated for every review, you can choose peer review questions that address elements consistent with the purpose of the essay.
- You can also add your own questions.
- The form can include up to six questions, in addition to the two required questions, for students to respond to when reviewing a peer's essay.
5. When you are finished customizing the prompt, click Save Prompt and the peer review form will be saved with the prompt.

To view or print the peer review form, click the Print icon in the settings summary.

6. Once a student submits an essay, the option to request a peer review will appear on the right hand side of their Score Report.

When a student receives a peer review request from a peer review group member, it will display as Pending in the Peer Reviews section of the student's Home Page.

- To complete the peer review, the student would click on the Start Review button and fill out the form including comments for each question.
- A submitted review will appear for the author as a Completed review on their Home page. They can click the Open Review button to read their classmates feedback.
