Adding Student and Teacher Accounts

New student accounts cannot be manually added to Utah Compose. Student accounts are added from the school's SIS system via UTREx. This process generally takes 24-48 hours to complete.

Teacher accounts cannot be added by a school administrator. All teachers must register for their accounts individually. To register, teachers need their CACTUS ID number, the product of their SSN (multiply each number 5 x 2 x 8 x 6 etc. and ignoring zeros), and must match the first/last name in the CACTUS record exactly. Once registered, teachers will see their courses and students load immediately.

School administrators can, however, add teacher accounts for paraprofessionals who do not have a CACTUS ID number or an existing Utah Compose teacher account.

The school administrator can create a teacher account for the paraprofessional and then add students from existing school rosters. Please use this sparingly. This feature was not designed to thwart the data security web service for individuals with CACTUS ID numbers.
